Two children are born the same night in 1900, three houses apart. One of them is you. Deathday is a free text-based life simulator that runs in your browser with no signup and no download. You pick a birthplace — Bengal, Galicia, the Ohio Valley, Shandong, Queensland, São Paulo, the Gold Coast, Java, Egypt or the Uzbek SSR — and live the twentieth century in about five minutes, one card and two choices at a time.
There are no stats, no points and no difficulty settings. Every card is sourced to a real historian or archive, and each region's death rates are calibrated to that place's actual 1900 life expectancy. Every run ends in a tombstone you can carve and share.
A daily mode gives everyone in the world the same birth, a blitz mode runs a century in ninety seconds, and free play is unlimited. Deathday needs JavaScript to play.
